Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Systems Engineer to join our team.
About the Role
As a Controls Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of automation and control system projects across a range of industries including water, utilities, oil and gas.
You will be involved in the full project lifecycle, including design, programming, commissioning, and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
* Programming and configuration of control systems (primarily Schneider, Siemens and Rockwell platforms)
* Preparation of functional descriptions, I/O schedules, and technical documentation
* Commissioning of control systems on-site, including SAT and FAT execution
* Fault finding, diagnostics, and system optimisation
* Integration of field instrumentation and communication networks (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.)
* Liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver project outcomes
About You
* Degree or trade qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar
* Proven experience in industrial automation and control systems
* Strong experience with PLCs (Schneider M340/M580 or Rockwell preferred)
* Experience with SCADA systems (Citect, FactoryTalk, or similar)
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously
* Strong English communication skills, including technical reporting and documentation
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of telemetry systems (e.g., Miri, RTUs)
* Networking and industrial communications experience
* Experience with commissioning and test documentation (SAT/FAT)
* Maintain and troubleshoot industrial controls systems in live plant environments
* Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site safety systems, permits, and procedures
* Assist with cause-and-effect development, interlocks, and safety system integration
