Junior Sous Chef – InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef (IHG Hotels & Resorts)
Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per annum (exclusive of superannuation).
Position type: Full Time.
Location: InterContinental Hayman Island, Outstanding Barrier Reef, Hayman Island, Whitsundays, QLD.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and support to the kitchen team and collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership team to ensure food service planning, direction, and quality meet the highest standards.
Manage daily kitchen operations, set team performance goals, mentor staff, and resolve conflicts.
Train team members on brand standards, regulations, and compliance; promote teamwork with other departments.
Support events, develop menus, maintain food safety and storage protocols, and ensure equipment functionality.
Adhere to health regulations, conduct workplace health and safety initiatives, and keep food and supply costs under control.
Requirements
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
Over two years of chef experience (or equivalent combination of education and culinary experience).
Experience in a rapid-paced setting preparing and cooking high-quality dishes.
Current food safety certification.
Fluency in English.
Appropriate Australian working rights.
