The role of a Senior Portfolio Underwriting Specialist is to support the delivery of the Underwriting strategy and Portfolio operations to generate desirable growth in the Portfolio and deliver long term profitability.
This role is in the Commercial Direct and Specialised Portfolio team manage the delivery of strategic, tactical, and product initiatives for the given brand/product/channel, by identifying, designing and implementing programs of work which maximise short and long term business objectives. Whilst being accountable for initiatives that deliver P&L and customer outcomes for a given brand/channel, and promotes growth and retains business, whilst meeting compliance and regulatory requirements.
Commercial Direct and Specialised consists of 4 brands (AAMI, GIO, Suncorp and Vero). The portfolio includes Business Insurance, Commercial Motor and Strata.
What you'll do:
* Identify and design strategic initiatives, including underwriting appetite and growth projects, whilst liaising with key business partners across Suncorp
* Support adherence to the risk appetite and continually develop and monitor performance of customer, brand and risk segments
* Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines for risk acceptance for portfolio performance
* Demonstrate understanding of products and their distribution and how propositions connects with customer needs
* Ensure Underwriting consistency across distribution channels.
What you'll bring:
* Experience in General Insurance Underwriting, Insurance Sales and/ or Claims
* Knowledge of Underwriting risk drivers
* Experience of designing/ solving while balancing trade offs
* Experience making recommendations aligned with strategy and risk appetite
* Risk assessment and strong analytical skills including the application of sound commercial judgement.
