Overview
Wallmans Lawyers is an established multi-practice commercial firm, providing an integrated team of nationally recognised leaders with extensive knowledge of key industry sectors.
You will play an important role, working in a busy legal team for a recognised industry expert that focuses on acting for health professionals predominantly in defence of civil claims of medical negligence, representing health practitioners at coronial inquests, and in disciplinary proceedings.
Ideal candidate
Our ideal candidate either comes from a medical typist or legal secretarial background, coupled with a very strong eye for detail and accuracy with systems. However, as full training will be provided, we are open to receiving applications if you have other transferrable skills and/or experience.
You will have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a desire to do whatever it takes to help the team be successful.
Responsibilities
- Transcribing the dictation or notes of a legal practitioner.
- Filing, printing and collating documents
- Diary management
- Reviewing and editing drafts, confirming that the transcription is correct, complete, and consistent.
- Setting up new files.
- To attend to both clients and lawyers in a professional manner.
- Takes pride in accurate record management.
- Maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of records.
- Assist with monthly billing
Skills and experience
- Experience with transcribing from dictation recordings.
- Fast and accurate typing skills.
- Highly developed organisation and communication skills.
- The ability to operate independently with a high level of initiative.
- Good IT skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
