Aboriginal Peak Organisations NT (APO NT) is a registered Aboriginal Corporation made up of 8 member organisations, Aboriginal Housing NT, North Australia Aboriginal Justice Agency, Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance NT, Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network, Northern Land Council, Central Land Council, Tiwi Land Council, Anindilyakwa Land Council.
APO NT's objectives are:
Provide effective and proactive responses to policy issues affecting NT Aboriginal people.
Increase Aboriginal involvement in policy development and implementation.
Expand opportunities for Aboriginal control.
Strengthen networks between Aboriginal organisations in the NT and nationally.
Strengthen partnerships between Aboriginal organisations and the governments.
As part of the NT Partnership Agreement between APO NT, the NT Government and the Commonwealth, APO NT will be leading capacity building and sector strengthening of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations through a grant programme to be developed by APO NT and administered by a third party. The programme will run over 6 years and has $60m committed over that time in federal funding.
Responsibilities
Oversee the lifecycle of the Sector Strengthening project.
Lead stakeholder relationships and service contract management (grant management, grant administration, financial management, capacity building services).
Work closely with executive leadership and senior leadership of APO NT member organisations to lead strategic sector participation / engagement.
Design and establish a NT Remote Aboriginal Investment (NTRAI) Sector Strengthening Investment Model.
Work alongside the Policy Manager and Secretariat Manager as part of the senior management team to support the strategic project direction across its life cycle.
Lead the programme which will include the following activities in the first phase:
Deliver a Sector Strengthening Engagement Framework/Strategy that is responsive to programme needs across its lifecycle, including engagement strategies.
Identify Sector Strengthening priority areas and investment streams.
Design Sector Strengthening Plans for identified priority areas.
Develop programme structure and funding guidelines including oversight structures, decision-making processes, and accountability mechanisms.
Skills and Experience
Program design and delivery for large scale projects.
Ability to engage and build trust across multiple stakeholders, federal and state governments, member organisations, and local communities.
Strong knowledge of Aboriginal cultures, customs and community dynamics.
Proven ability to work independently, take initiative and manage competing priorities.
Grant management, financial and performance reporting.
