Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Computing Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of MAVERIC, Australia's first AI-focused supercomputer in higher education.
This investment will power next-generation AI and data-intensive research projects in areas such as health, climate science, bioinformatics, and advanced engineering. The successful candidate will have expertise in Linux system administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, automation, and security hardening.
Key responsibilities include providing expert onboarding and technical support for researchers using HPC and AI clusters, managing and maintaining Linux-based HPC systems, and supporting containerised environments for reproducible research workflows.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
 * Deep expertise in Linux system administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, automation, and security hardening.
 * Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash or similar.
 * Proven experience supporting researchers in HPC/AI, cloud or large-scale computing environments.
 * Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse user groups.
