Primary objective
Provide contemporary early childhood curriculum and pedagogy information and coaching support to help build the continuity of
learning for children aged from birth to 8 years and embed quality practices across early childhood education and care settings in
the Northern Territory (NT).
Context statement
Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) provides evidence-based differentiated services and support to preschools and schools to
maximise outcomes for Territory children and young people. Our services encompass quality teaching and learning, national and
systemic assessment, transition to boarding school support and policy coordination. TLS also plays a strategic role in implementing
government priorities, offering expert advice to the Education Minister and the department's senior executives. We enhance our
work by actively engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure best outcomes for all of our clients.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide differentiated pedagogical expertise through coaching to support early childhood educators to improve their teaching
and learning practices and knowledge for delivering a quality early childhood program.
1. Communicate effectively and interact professionally with schools, leadership and educator networks and relevant community
stakeholders.
1. Develop and deliver professional learning activities as required that is contemporary, evidence-based, relevant, targeted and
effective.
4. Promote professional standards and pedagogical expertise across early childhood programs and services through activities to
develop the skills and knowledge of others.
5. Complete necessary administrative functions and reporting in accordance with government business systems, policies and
processes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. An early childhood degree qualification that meets National Quality Framework requirements.
2. Successful pedagogical leadership in early childhood education, including the delivery of high-quality early childhood programs;
professional learning; and a deep knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework. Australian Curriculum
and National Quality Framework.
1. Experience in providing differentiated pedagogical support and identifying innovative and contextual solutions in response to
changing and/or challenging circumstances.
1. Ability to identify, collate and report qualitative and quantitative data to help inform continuous improvement strategies and
initiatives.
1. Demonstrated high level oral, written and communication skills including an ability to interact effectively with people from
diverse cultures and a proven ability to effectively manage communication across diverse stakeholders.
Further information
This position is office based and requires extensive travel to urban, rural, and remote communities across the NT.
The selected applicant must hold full Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory (TRB), current NT
Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card), driver's licence and 4WD training or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
