About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is inviting expressions of interest from experienced internal Registered Nurses who are ready to take the next step in their career by transitioning into a Clinical Nurse role within our Medical Ward. This opportunity is offered as a maximum term contract to cover a maternity leave period of six months, commencing in November.
Our Medical Unit provides a dynamic and rewarding environment, caring for patients with a wide range of specialised needs including rehabilitation, oncology, haematology, telepathy, and general medicine. The ward is supported by a collaborative and compassionate team of Nurses, Doctors, and Allied Health professionals, all dedicated to delivering exceptional care to patients, their families, and carers throughout their journey at Mater.
Salary range: $54.44 - $58.53 (Registered Nurse Level 2) plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a valued member of the team you will:
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and the continuum of care
- Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of emergency procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
- Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
- Lead, participate and collaborate with other key stakeholders in the design and implementation of continuous improvement activities and models of care for enhanced service provision.
- Liaise with other senior nursing roles and multidisciplinary teams to ensure strong communication networks are maintained.
- Identify and actively communicate future issues and new directions for the service.
- Escalate issues impacting on clinical practice and care delivery.
- Establishes and promotes effective model of care with family that ensure continuity of care.
- Manages ethical dilemmas in a supportive, collaborative manner. Develop and participates in Palliative Care Clinics Participates in family meetings.
About you
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
- Post graduate qualification (desirable)
- Extensive demonstrated experience in a medical ward, with advanced clinical competency and experience
- You will have strong leadership ability and experience, as well as excellent time management skills
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
- Demonstrated high level of communication (written and verbal) and the ability to communicate with your team as an effective senior leader
