In this role, you'll:
Be a subject matter expert on the engineering and asset management of fleet and depot assets, with a specialty in bus assets.
Your expertise will be applied across the fleet and infrastructure asset portfolio for the bus, ferry and light rail modes.
You will:
• Provide technical oversight and support to internal and external stakeholders to improve the safety, compliance, reliability of bus, ferry and light rail assets
• Provide technical advice and inputs to policies, strategies, plans, standards and the like to achieve intended outcomes
• Drive continual improvement in bus, ferry and light rail outcomes through monitoring, analysis, change leadership and engagement with partners
• Ensure asset management, governance, planning and assurance decisions are aligned with Transport requirements
This role reports to the Senior Manager Asset Strategy (Fleet and Depot) in the newly created Operational Asset Assurance Branch of Coordinator General. The Directorate includes other Senior Manager roles in the team include Corridor & Civil, Technology Systems, and Power & Energy, as well as an Integration and Configuration specialist role. Engineering for the power and energy systems for bus, ferry and light rail are covered by the Power & Energy team.
The Senior Engineer will provide subject matter expertise for Coordinator General Division, including staff, partners and service providers involved in all asset lifecycle stages for bus, ferry and light rail. The role works in partnership with other experts within the branch, division and broader Transport portfolio as well as industry and the supply chain.

About you
You are a Senior Engineer with experience delivering outcomes for bus assets in a complex environment. You are degree-qualified and have an engineering background in mechanical, electrical, heavy vehicles or similar.
You bring:
• expertise in cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders from multiple disciplines (e.g. engineering, commercial, operations, maintenance etc) to improve engineering and asset management outcomes
• aptitude for driving continual improvement, navigating competing interests and providing balanced advice that considers factors beyond pure engineering
• experience in monitoring and analysing asset data and developing evidence-based solutions to improve outcomes across the asset lifecycle
