The Opportunity

To support our existing portfolio of projects, we are looking for a Fire Safety Engineer to join our Infrastructure Buildings and Defence national team. You will contribute and assist on projects Australia-wide. In this position you will be responsible for contributing to projects and ensuring the technical accuracy and adequacy of fire safety engineering deliverables.

Day-to-day activities include developing technical data packages considering design specifications and engineering services related to fire engineering across buildings, Defence and infrastructure projects. The role will also interface closely with fire services protection designers and other engineering disciplines within KBR and externally as required.

You will work under direct supervision of the Fire Engineering National Lead in conjunction with the regional Building Services team within which you will function. The role includes planning and budgeting, organising, controlling stakeholders and managing third parties.

Who are you?

* Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
* Project management and proposal preparation experience along with the ability to write clearly and fluently about technical subjects or project delivery methodologies.
* Ability to prepare and verify design calculations in fire engineering and modelling using either manual methods or with the aid of computer applications.

As a function of the work that we do, it is a key requirement that you are an Australian citizen and either hold or are eligible for, security clearance with the Australian Defence.

* Business acumen, awareness of financial, time, and budgetary constraints and realities are expected from the candidate, on par with the role's standing.
* The role will work closely with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural and other engineers in delivery of projects and proposals for a range of clients and infrastructure types.
* Maintains curiosity and interest to continuously improve technical knowledge and skills.
