Your new company
Join a nationally recognised, mission-led Australian organisation based in Macquarie Park (Macquarie University precinct). The business is investing heavily in data and analytics and is building a modern Microsoft-first stack to power better decision making across the organisation.
Your new role
As the Data Engineering Manager, you'll lead a small, high-calibre team within the Data, Applications & AI group and report into technology leadership. You'll own the Azure data platform end-to-end—around 60–70% hands-on—while setting standards, uplifting practices, and steering the roadmap (including the move to Microsoft Fabric). Hybrid working with onsite parking.
This role will see you:
* Lead and coach a tight-knit team (Data Architect, Data Modeler/contractor, Data Engineers) with clear goals and accountability;
* Own day-to-day platform operations: code, review, operate, and continuously improve pipelines and models;
* Deliver trusted data products: land, cleanse/transform, model (star/lakehouse/semantic), and serve for analytics/Power BI;
* Partner closely with the Reporting & Analytics team and other business stakeholders to prioritise and deliver outcomes;
* Decommission a legacy warehouse and evolve a modern Azure data warehouse and Fabric where it makes sense;
* Embed engineering excellence: version control, CI/CD, testing, IaC, monitoring/alerting, SLAs and incident/change practice; and
* Champion governance, security and cost control: Purview, lineage/access, Key Vault, least-privilege, budgets/alerts.
About you
You're a hands-on Azure data leader who can move from strategy to code to production support, and you're comfortable setting pace and standards in a modern platform team.
You will ideally bring:
* Deep Azure data engineering: ADF, Synapse, Fabric, Purview, Power BI, Azure SQL;
* Strong SQL, Python and PySpark; data modelling across star, lakehouse and semantic models;
* Proven Dataverse/Dynamics 365 integration at scale and incremental/CDC patterns;
* People leadership: hiring, coaching, performance management; clear communication with execs and engineers;
* Solid CI/CD (Azure DevOps/Git), testing and environment management; privacy-by-design and security best practice; and
* Nice to have: Azure ML & MLOps, FinOps for Azure, Power BI admin at scale.
What's on offer
* Salary: $190,000 – $200,000 base + 12% super;
* Hybrid: currently ~2 days in office (Macquarie Park);
* Benefits: onsite parking, Fitness Passport, retail discounts, supportive team culture; and
* Impact: own a modern Azure platform, complete a key decommission, and lead the shift toward Fabric.
