Our client is a high profile government agency that provides strategic, technical, tactical and transactional support for ICT, finance, human resource and commercial services to Government Directorates and helps to drive the government's digital agenda.
They manage several whole-of-government business systems, as well as having responsibility for critical ICT infrastructure
Role Description:
The Network Engineer will support the delivery of the network infrastructure refresh stream (renewal of ageing ICT infrastructure and end-user devices across government directorates)
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical leadership and support to the infrastructure stream, including coordination with delivery teams and supervision of assigned technical resources.
* Assist in the development of detailed network designs based on high-level architecture and lead the successful delivery of network replacement activities across multiple locations.
* Lead the implementation of refreshed network infrastructure, ensuring alignment with program objectives and compliance with government frameworks.
* Prepare and maintain network design documentation and implementation artefacts; ensuring repositories are accurate and up to date.
* Provide technical mentoring and guidance to colleagues on network technologies relevant to the infrastructure refresh program.
* Analyse, plan and implement network related business requirements, including upgrades and migrations
* Liaise with key stakeholders across directorates and maintain strong relationships with vendors such as Cisco, Checkpoint and F5
* Prioritise competing project tasks to ensure timely delivery of network replacement milestones
Skills and Experience:
* Expertise in leading the implementation, fault resolution and delivery of enterprise network technologies in a large scale infrastructure refresh program.
* Strong understanding of networking technologies across vendors such as Cisco, Checkpoint and F5; with advanced troubleshooting and configuration skills.
* Sound knowledge of current ICT infrastructure trends, particularly in network refresh, hybrid environments and cloud integration.
* Strong planning and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a complex delivery environment.
* Leadership and mentoring capabilities to support technical staff and ensure quality outcomes.
* Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships across directorates and delivery partners.
* Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues and proactively improve outcomes.
* Well developed communication skills; including the ability to liaise, negotiate, and influence stakeholders effectively.
* Relevant qualifications or certifications in Network Engineering and/or equivalent experience.
* AGSVA Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) clearance is required or the ability to obtain and hold a NV1 security clearance is mandatory (Australian citizenship essential)
