The Opportunity
Join our eResearch team and support high-impact research through the administration of our High Performance Computing (HPC) environment. You will work closely with researchers to provision, manage and optimise secure, high-performance computing resources, supporting both day-to-day operations and specialised research projects.
Working along side the Senior System Administrator, your role will include system provisioning, performance monitoring, job and storage optimisation, software deployment, security management, and documentation. You will also contribute to the deployment and operation of AI research infrastructure as we expand support for AI-enabled research.
What You'll Do
* Administer and support Linux-based HPC systems and services
* Monitor performance, optimise workloads and manage resources
* Build, provision and maintain HPC and AI research infrastructure
* Ensure system security, integrity and compliance
* Install and maintain HPC, scientific and containerised software
* Manage user access, onboarding and offboarding
* Maintain technical documentation and respond to service requests
What You'll Bring
* Experience administering HPC systems in a research or academic environment
* Strong Linux (RHEL) administration skills and scripting experience (Shell, Python, R)
* Experience with SLURM or similar job schedulers
* Experience supporting AI/ML workloads and model deployment
* Knowledge of HPC software management (e.g. SPACK, open-source builds)
* Strong communication, troubleshooting and teamwork skills
