Job Summary
We are currently seeking a dedicated disability support worker with experience in med to high behaviour's of concern to join our team in the Brimbank area. This part‐time position requires the successful candidate to provide support to participants living with Autism. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as an associate in disability support and must possess a deep understanding of Autism and its associated challenges. 20 hours per week including weekends.
Skills
* Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related disabilities
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Empathy, patience, and compassion towards individuals with disabilities
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
* Knowledge of person‐centered approaches in supporting individuals with disabilities
Responsibilities
* Provide direct support to participants living with Autism by assisting them in daily activities such as personal care, meal preparation, transportation, etc.
* Implement individualized care plans based on participant needs and goals.
* Promote independence and skill development through engaging activities tailored to each participant's abilities.
* Support participants in developing social skills by facilitating community participation and inclusion opportunities.
* Monitor participants' health status regularly and report any changes or concerns promptly.
* Maintain accurate documentation of all interactions, progress notes, incidents reports, etc.
Qualifications
* Minimum qualification preferable, Certificate IV in Disability or equivalent.
* Proven experience working directly with individuals living with Autism Spectrum Disorder is essential for this role.
* Must have a current First Aid/CPR certificate (or willing to obtain).
* Must hold a valid Australian driver's license.
