Underground Senior Mine Planning Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
This position reports to the UG Technical Services Manager and collaborates closely with the Tech Service Manager, UG Manager, and site engineers. The Senior Mine Planning Engineer leads new underground project studies, life-of-mine planning, budgeting, cost modelling, and due diligence of mine projects. The role also involves project management, mentoring junior engineers, and providing technical support to ensure operational goals and budgets are met efficiently.
KEY DUTIES AND TASKS
* Lead new underground project studies to support operational growth and efficiency.
* Develop and optimize life-of-mine (LOM) plans, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
* Oversee budgeting processes to ensure financial targets are met while maintaining operational safety and efficiency.
* Perform detailed cost modelling to inform decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
* Conduct due diligence on mine projects to assess risks, opportunities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Manage project timelines and resources, ensuring project milestones are met within budgetary and operational constraints.
* Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their technical and professional development.
* Provide ongoing technical support to operations, ensuring alignment with production goals and technical standards.
* Any other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor of Mining Engineering Degree.
* First Aid Certificate
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
WORK KNOWLEDGE
* Minimum 7 years underground mining operational and technical experience.
* At least 3 years' experience in planning experience.
* Understanding of mine geology and Geotech.
* Knowledge of Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 (WA).
* Mining development and production practices implementation and improvement.
* Risk assessment and control.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
* Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to all stakeholders, including mining personnel and technical personnel (geology, survey, engineers).
* Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with Management.
* Must always display positive support for company policies, procedures, and instruction.
* Ability to build and maintain positive relationships required to achieve role purpose.
* Able to read and write English at an Australian Upper Secondary School standard.
COMPUTER SKILLS
* Competent user of Deswik mining software
* Competent with demonstrated skills in MS Excel spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing and database applications
