MEC is a growing technical consultancy operating within the mining and resources sector. We are seeking an experienced Senior In-House Legal Counsel to join the team in a part-time capacity. This is a newly created, standalone role, and you will be the sole legal counsel in the business. We are seeking a confident expert who can proactively guide the business on what we need to know and do to manage risk while enabling growth.
Responsibilities
 * Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including client contracts and service agreements.
 * Providing strategic legal advice on contracts, governance, and risk management.
 * Developing and maintaining contract templates and guidance notes for stakeholders.
 * Advising on high-level HR matters where required.
 * Maintaining appropriate records of legal advice, contracts, and correspondence.
 * Liaising with external legal advisors where specialist expertise is required.
 * Drafting correspondence for the CEO, CFO, and Board as requested.
What we are looking for
 * Minimum 7 years post admission experience in commercial/corporate law, with exposure to employment law.
 * Experience in the mining or resources sectors desirable.
 * Previous in-house experience in a commercial or consultancy environment.
 * High level organisation and time management skills with demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines.
 * Self-starter who can work independently and manage competing priorities.
 * Commercially minded with a balanced approach to risk.
 * Pragmatic, solutions-focused, and adaptable.
 * Collaborative, approachable, and able to influence without jargon.
 * High integrity and professional judgment.
