A$100,000.00/yr - A$150,000.00/yr

Overview
We have exciting opportunities for Senior Equipment and Outfit Engineers to join the team at Garden Island, Sydney and Darling Park. Operating under the Design Support Contractor (DSC) contract, you will provide design services to deliver systems for naval ships with responsibility for outfitting and related systems.
Responsibilities
* Outfit design activities, including compartment arrangements, structural closures, Fire Protection, deck arrangements, equipment arrangements, ladders/platforms, cargo handling systems, minor foundations, mooring and anchoring systems, coating preservation and deck coverings, etc.
* Provide experience and broad technical knowledge of functional and detailed design related to outfitting and ship systems (equipment storage/foundations, furniture, structural closures, metal joiner doors and bulkheads, deck coverings, false floors/ceilings, linings, insulation, etc.).
* Collaborate with the Navantia Engineering Team across disciplines; plan and coordinate engineering projects from concept to delivery, including project plans, schedules, and stakeholder engagement.
* Develop ship platform systems documentation (impact analyses, drawings, reports) and deliver technical reports and documentation to Navantia and customer standards.
* Develop naval ships' auxiliary systems specifications and related design documentation; ensure compliance with Classification Society rules and ship design standards.
* Ensure compliance with legislative requirements (IMO, AMSA, Commercial and Naval Standards) and liaise with clients and subcontractors.
* Requirement analysis and verification development; perform design studies and analyses using Hull Design, 3D modelling, Finite Element and other engineering software.
* Project management tasks including scheduling, resourcing, budgeting, progress monitoring and reporting; participate in design coordination and client design review meetings.
* Assist planning and coordination of on-board installation works, including scopes of work, installation packages and test procedures.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering
* Proven ability to produce clear, well-presented reports
* Understanding of mechanical and ship platform systems (propulsion, hydraulics, pumps, piping, cranes, winches, HVAC, fire suppression, etc.)
* Experience with CAD/3D software (MicroStation, AutoCAD)
* Experience with technical shipbuilding regulations (Classification Society and IMO requirements)
* Project management and interpersonal skills
* Ability to operate autonomously, use initiative, and deliver results in a high-pressure environment
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders
