Role Overview
The key purpose of this role is to lead, support, and oversee the execution of day shift production activities, ensuring the consistent delivery of premium artisan chocolate products in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. The Day Shift Manager educates, engages, inspires, and motivates their team to achieve production goals, uphold Koko Black's quality standards, and maintain safe and efficient operational practices.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Development
 * Develop and implement operational processes that optimise quality, time, and cost to deliver efficiency gains in line with operational team goals.
 * Contribute to and execute Continuous Improvement (CI) projects in production.
 * Plan daily and weekly workload and material resources to meet business needs while maximising efficiency.
Task Management & Operations
 * Oversee execution of the day shift production schedule, taking full accountability for shift output.
 * Organise and support the preparation of fillings, ganache, chocolate tempering, and the production and packing of artisan chocolates, pralines, and truffles.
 * Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and escalate as required, while developing team members' capability to manage minor plant issues.
 * Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyse, and implement productivity and loss prevention improvements.
 * Ensure compliance with customer order requirements, Koko Black quality standards, and complete required system transactions and documentation.
People Leadership & Development
 * Supervise and support day shift line leaders, providing mentoring, coaching, and opportunities for skill progression and professional development.
 * Inspire, engage, and motivate the team to deliver high performance and uphold Koko Black's values.
 * Manage daily and weekly rostering and approve Time and Attendance (TANDA) records.
Financial & Resource Management
 * Manage and improve operational costs through labour optimisation, waste reduction, and quality improvements.
 * Proactively manage and reduce production overtime.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
 * Ensure adherence to safe work practices and food safety standards for all team members.
 * Take proactive steps to identify hazards, assess and control risks, and support a safe workplace environment.
 * Promote a culture of safety and compliance across the day shift team.
Any additional duties as directed from time to time.

 * All team members while at work must:

 * Ensure that steps are taken to pro-actively identify hazards and assess and control risks. Take action to immediately stop any observed unsafe act or condition and complete any correct actions with the team, line leaders and management team.
 * Conduct safety interactions and corrective actions to improve workplace safety for all personnel
