The Consultant Director of Anaesthetics Hamilton
The position is based at the Hamilton campus of the hospital and is primarily clinically focused, with some management responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide peri-operative anaesthesia and resuscitation care to in‐patients, including birth suites, operating theatres, wards, ICU and the emergency department.
* Coordinate weekly pre‐anaesthetic outpatient clinics and support departmental education and quality assurance activities.
* Participate in academic and teaching activities in collaboration with Deakin University faculty.
* Supervise registrars, provisional trainees, HMOs and interns within the anaesthetics department.
* Manage the acute pain service and obstetric anaesthesia service, and provide services to interventional disciplines other than cardiac, neurosurgery and transplant surgery.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of anaesthetic services and clinical pathways.
Summary of the Role
Clinical duties involve peri‐operative anaesthetic and resuscitation care of patients across multiple settings and active participation in the pre‐anaesthetic outpatient clinic. The role also includes organisational responsibilities within the department and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
About You
* FANZCA certification or equivalent.
* Current registration with AHPRA and ANZCA.
* High standard of written and verbal communication skills.
* Practical approach to problem solving.
* Ability to work collaboratively with the team.
