The Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) Service, located in Alice Springs in Central Australia is seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to provide high-level psychological assessment, formulation and intervention within a complex and culturally diverse service environment.
This is a senior clinical role with responsibility for delivering advanced cognitive and disability-related assessments, supporting multidisciplinary decision-making, and contributing to service development across the region.
About the roleAs a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide evidence-informed assessment and intervention for individuals presenting with complex mental health, neurological and neuropsychological conditions. A key component of the role includes cognitive assessment to identify suspected brain injury, cognitive impairment and disability within the MHAOD cohort.
You will work autonomously within your scope of practice while contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment. The role includes clinical supervision, mentorship and support of staff and students, as well as participation in continuous quality improvement and service development initiatives.
The position requires the ability to manage a high-volume and complex caseload within a dynamic service environment while maintaining high clinical standards and cultural responsiveness.
Key responsibilities include:Delivering high-level psychological and cognitive assessments for complex presentationsProviding evidence-informed clinical formulation and interventionContributing to multidisciplinary case planning and treatment decision-makingProviding clinical supervision and mentorship to psychologists, students and staffLeading or contributing to quality improvement and service development initiativesSupporting culturally safe practice in partnership with Aboriginal communities
To be successful, you will require:Registration for practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Eligibility for membership with the Australian Psychological SocietyExtensive postgraduate experience in cognitive and disability-related assessmentDemonstrated experience working with complex mental health presentationsProven ability to work effectively with Aboriginal clients, families and diverse communitiesStrong leadership capability and experience providing clinical supervisionAbility to manage a complex and demanding workload
Desirable:Postgraduate qualifications in clinical psychology or neuropsychology
