CNC Lathe Machinist
For experienced Lathe Machinists and CNC Turning Operators to produce precision engineering components for an advanced manufacturing environment. A permanent full-time position within a highly skilled engineering workshop in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
Overview
This role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes to manufacture precision components. It requires experience with sliding head and multi-axis lathes in a high-precision engineering workshop located in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
Responsibilities
* Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes using G-code and CAM software such as Fusion 360, Mastercam, SolidWorks, PowerMill, and MetaCut.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD/CAM files, and detailed specifications to manufacture precision components.
* Operate advanced CNC machines including DMG Mori, Okuma, Mori Seiki, Star Swiss, Haas, and Mazak equipment.
* Conduct routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues to maintain optimal operation.
* Ensure all manufactured parts meet tight tolerances through rigorous quality assurance practices.
* Work with diverse materials including steel, stainless steel, titanium, brass, and engineering plastics.
* Supervise and mentor junior machinists, assist with production planning and scheduling.
* Adhere strictly to safety standards and keep the workspace clean and organised.
Qualifications
* Proven experience programming and operating multi-axis CNC lathes on brands such as DMG Mori, Okuma, Mori Seiki, and Star Swiss CNC.
* Skilled in interpreting complex engineering drawings and CAD/CAM software including Fusion 360, Mastercam, SolidWorks, PowerMill, and MetaCut.
* Strong knowledge of machining practices with materials like steel, stainless steel, and titanium.
* Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and perform quality checks on CNC equipment.
* Minimum visa requirement: Work Visa.
