The Role
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Building Surveyor / Building Surveyor to join the team in a hands‑on, technical role. You'll be responsible for delivering technical building surveying services, managing your own projects, and supporting the development of junior team members.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assessing project documentation and issuing advice on compliance with the Building Act, Building Regulations, NCC and relevant Standards
* Managing and issuing building permits efficiently and professionally
* Providing guidance on alternative compliance pathways where required
* Undertaking site inspections, client meetings and stakeholder coordination
* Liaising with councils, authorities and consultants as part of the approvals process
* Managing project documentation and ensuring job files are maintained accurately
* Mentoring junior staff and contributing to capability development across the team
* Supporting continuous improvement and contributing to the ongoing growth of the business
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys being hands‑on technically, while also being involved with clients and team development.
You will ideally have:
* A relevant tertiary qualification in Building Surveying (or equivalent)
* Strong working knowledge of the Act, Regulations, NCC and Australian Standards
* Experience delivering technical building surveying services and issuing permits (preferred)
* Confidence mentoring junior surveyors and sharing technical knowledge
* A professional, proactive approach and strong communication skills
* Fire engineering experience (desirable, but not essential)
