The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.Ahpra is committed to providing a culturally safe work environment that reflects the diversity of the communities in which we operate and serve.About the role:The Lawyer, Legal Services - Professional Misconduct Unit will work closely with a Legal Advisor and contribute to the management of litigated matters, including disciplinary proceedings and appeals. You’ll conduct legal research, prepare advice and contribute to the effective regulation of health practitioners - particularly in matters involving allegations of professional misconduct.This is a 12-month fixed term position, based in any of our Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin or Brisbane offices.In this role you will:Assist in the preparation and management of litigated disciplinary and appeals mattersConduct legal research and draft clear, high-quality legal adviceInterpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures within a regulatory and statutory frameworkEngage with internal stakeholders and external parties such as legal counsel and tribunalsContribute to a positive team culture focused on collaboration, accountability and public protectionAbout you:You’re a legally qualified practitioner with strong analytical and communication skills, and you’re confident navigating complex legal and regulatory frameworks.
