About Us:
Little Eeden Honey Farm and Apiary is a proudly family-owned business with three generations of beekeeping tradition. Established in 2011 in Western Australia, we have grown to manage approximately 350 hives, contributing to both premium honey production and critical pollination services for agricultural crops such as pumpkins, strawberries, fruit trees, and nut trees. Our honey is sold through our farm shop and stockists across Perth, with strong and increasing demand.
To meet our goals of expanding to over 500 hives and strengthening our pollination and honey production capabilities, we are seeking a skilled and experienced full-time Apiarist.
The Role:
You will be responsible for the full spectrum of beekeeping activities, including:
•Managing bee colonies for honey production, pollination services, and hive products.
•Breeding and raising queen bees to improve hive strength and resilience.
•Monitoring nectar flows to optimize hive locations and maximize honey yield.
•Coordinating the delivery of commercial pollination services for client crops.
•Collecting and processing pollen for market supply.
•Monitoring, diagnosing, and treating bee diseases and pests (including proactive management against Varroa mite and other biosecurity threats).
•Managing hive health, maintenance, and seasonal movements.
•Operating our on-site honey extraction facility, ensuring efficient, high-quality production.
•Keeping accurate records of hive movements, treatments, queen breeding, honey yields, and pollination services.
Skills and Experience Required:
•Minimum 3 years' full-time, relevant experience in commercial beekeeping operations.
•Strong knowledge of bee husbandry, queen rearing, and disease and pest control.
•Experience with hive movement logistics and pollination service delivery.
•Ability to identify and respond to environmental conditions affecting bee colonies.
•Competency in operating honey extraction equipment and maintaining hive infrastructure.
•Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
•Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain detailed records.
Desirable:
•Relevant qualifications in apiculture, agriculture, or environmental science.
•Experience with biosecurity protocols related to beekeeping.
