Project Planner — Renewable Energy Zone (Hunter–Central Coast, NSW) Help deliver the grid infrastructure powering NSW’s clean energy future. Genus is proud to be delivering a transformative infrastructure project within the Hunter–Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (REZ), one of the first five REZs being developed by the NSW Government. In partnership with Ausgrid, Genus has been awarded a major contract to lead sub-transmission line works that will connect renewable generation and strengthen the network. If you’re a planner who thrives in complex delivery environments and enjoys turning data into clear, actionable schedules, this is an opportunity to make a visible impact on a nationally significant project. The Opportunity As a Project Planner, you’ll partner closely with Project Managers, Engineers and site teams to build and maintain robust project schedules that support safe, on-time delivery. You’ll help drive schedule discipline, proactively identify risk and variance, and provide clear reporting that enables timely decision-making. The incumbent will work from the project office in Newcastle. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain and control integrated project schedules (baseline, updates, progress measurement, forecasting). Establish key milestones, critical path activities, and look-ahead plans to support construction delivery. Track progress, analyse performance and identify schedule variance, risk and constraints. Produce clear schedule and performance reporting (e.g., dashboards and status summaries) for project stakeholders. Support resource and cost-aligned planning, including sequencing, productivity assumptions and budget impacts. Work with Project Managers, Engineers, procurement and subcontractors to ensure schedule inputs are accurate and current. Contribute to continuous improvement of planning systems, processes, audit/review cadence and governance. Ensure planning activities align with Genus's procedures and applicable industry and safety requirements. About You You’re detail-oriented, confident engaging across technical and delivery teams, and comfortable challenging assumptions while remaining solutions-focused. You can explain schedule logic clearly, and you enjoy bringing structure to fast-moving, high-stakes projects. Qualifications & Requirements Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). 3 years’ experience in planning/scheduling within construction or major infrastructure environments. Proven capability with Primavera P6 (highly regarded), and/or MS Project, with exposure to Power BI or similar reporting tools. Experience supporting planning governance: baselining, progress measurement, change control, audits/reviews, risk and constraint management. Demonstrated experience on major projects (typically $20M or equivalent complexity/value). Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication. Solid understanding of construction methods, sequencing and industry/regulatory expectations.
