About the Role
The Payroll Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll for all employees. This position is responsible for maintaining precise employee pay records and administering salary packaging arrangements. The Payroll Officer provides high-quality support to employees and management by promptly responding to payroll enquiries and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation, policies, and awards. In addition, the role focuses on identifying opportunities to improve payroll systems and processes, working collaboratively with team members to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver end-to-end payroll services by accurately managing new starters, terminations, and fortnightly pay cycles in accordance with organisational policies.
* Ensure full legislative and organisational compliance through the preparation of payroll reports and adherence to employment, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
* Provide professional, confidential payroll guidance to employees, responding promptly to enquiries regarding remuneration, leave balances, and entitlements.
* Administer salary packaging arrangements by liaising effectively with external providers to ensure accurate processing and compliance with relevant guidelines.
* Maintain payroll and rostering systems with a high level of data integrity, ensuring records are current, accurate, and audit-ready at all times.
About You
You are an organised, detail-driven professional with a strong commitment to service excellence. You communicate clearly, manage sensitive information with discretion, and perform confidently in fast-paced environments. You bring solid knowledge of payroll systems, awards, and employment legislation, and are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. With experience in a similar role, you manage deadlines effectively, resolve issues proactively, and support employees with professionalism and empathy. You work well independently while valuing collaboration, and you consistently seek opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.
