The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic – Workshop & Field Service to join our Mobile Field Service team.
This role offers a mix of workshop servicing and field service repairs, working across a diverse fleet of cranes, plant, and heavy equipment. Your focus will be ensuring all equipment is maintained to manufacturer specifications, compliant, and hire ready.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain all equipment in a safe operating condition in accordance with manufacturer specifications and Australian Standards.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
* Carry out scheduled servicing including 90-day, annual, and major inspections (including 10-year inspections)
* Complete pre-hire and pre-start checks, rectifying any safety or mechanical issues prior to dispatch.
* Perform repairs and breakdown support both in the workshop and in the field.
* Accurately complete work orders, repairs, and pre-start check using the MEX Maintenance System
* Work autonomously while contributing positively within a team environment.
About You
You will ideally have:
* Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic.
* Experience working on heavy equipment, cranes, or mobile plant
* Strong hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic skills
* Ability to work across both workshop and field service environments
* Willingness to learn new equipment and systems
* Open manual driver's licence
* Construction Card (White card) for access on work sites.
* High Risk Licence (Crane, Forklift, Boom, Scissor) – preferred but not essential
* Own tools required.
* Willing to work after hours, attend to call outs, outside ordinary hours.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
* Good communication skills and a strong safety focus
