Your new role
As a GIS Specialist, you will provide technical support, configuration expertise and spatial data services across the business. You'll monitor system performance, resolve incidents, and identify opportunities to enhance data quality and system capability. Working closely with ICT and business stakeholders, you'll contribute to system improvements, deliver training, support UAT activities, and develop reporting and spatial analysis solutions that inform operational and strategic decisions.
What you'll need to succeed
* Diploma in Information Technology, Spatial Information Services, or equivalent experience
* Experience in a similar IT role within construction, energy/electrical, or utilities
* Strong understanding of GIS data structures, relational databases, system interfaces and design
* Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
* Experience in troubleshooting, incident management, configuration, testing and user support
* Skilled in preparing technical documentation and analysing complex business processes
* Practical experience with spatial manipulation tools such as FME Workbench
* Knowledge of electricity distribution systems (advantageous)
* Strong communication skills and the ability to train and support users
* Proficiency with tools such as ArcGIS, Smallworld Magik, SQL, SharePoint, SVN/ VSS, GSA and Microsoft Office
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes under time pressure
