Join to apply for the Facilities Operations Centre (FOC) Engineer, AWS role at Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. You'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The Data Centre Global Engineering Operations organisation seeks an individual with proven leadership skills to help bring to fruition a newly developed Facilities Operations Centre (FOC). The FOC is responsible for 24x7 monitoring of the data centre's physical infrastructure and will serve as a facilitator for Large Scale Events (LSEs) and Critical Site Events (CSEs). This role will also serve as a central monitoring location for the facility electrical and mechanical systems. The team will ensure an optimal customer experience through consistency, reliability, and attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of data centre IT infrastructure and data centre facilities infrastructure and how they co-exist. The successful candidate will provide assistance and support to the onsite team, help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels, and demonstrate the ability to think outside the box. This role will align the FOC with larger objectives of other business and peer organisations and contribute to growing the team toward operational excellence. This position may require working weekends and holidays to support a 24x7 environment.
