Primary objective
Assist the Director of Emergency Management with managing logistics staff and the cache of equipment and stores, provide high‐level logistics coordination, advice, and support to the Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) to ensure a readily deployable cache.
Key duties and responsibilities
* Support the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) Director of Emergency Management to meet AUSMAT's core strategic objectives by ensuring a readily deployable national and international cache.
* Ensure the maintenance of an accurate asset register in line with Northern Territory Government (NTG) policies and guidelines and track usage of all assets.
* Coordinate cache maintenance, ensure equipment is serviced and maintained, undertake procurement observing NTG procurement policies and legislation to ensure adequate stock supplies, follow up discrepancies and manage trials of new equipment.
* Provide logistics training and familiarisation of deployable assets to both internal and external stakeholders.
* Support logistical requirements of all deployments, training exercises and other public events and be available after hours for matters relating to the cache and deployments.
* Provide technical advice and recommendations regarding logistical equipment, standard operating procedures, stock control, and systems.
* Assist the Emergency Management Director as required to support AUSMAT operations and training.
* Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high‐quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
* Demonstrated deployment experience and a working knowledge of contemporary disaster and emergency response requirements including National and Territory Disaster and Emergency Management arrangements, planning design and procedure development, including AUSMAT activation processes.
* Highly developed knowledge and experience with procurement policies, stock control, warehousing principles, processes, asset management, and deployable caches, including Emergency Management Tiers 1 and 2 responses.
* Experience with practical training of diverse professional and other groups in the use of equipment with sound communication skills and the ability to negotiate and engage with external and internal stakeholders.
* Demonstrated experience in working with teams in challenging deployment scenarios, including infection prevention and control.
* Strong cross-cultural skills and the ability to operate independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to work out of hours, for extended periods to assist with national and international AUSMAT deployment activities.
* Relevant experience in an emergency management organisation and dealing with volunteers.
* Heavy rigid vehicle licence and related experience.
