Role Overview

The Marine Pilot reports to the Manager Port Operations. The role will be based in Thevenard and is responsible for the safe pilotage of vessels in Thevenard and other regional ports as required. Other responsibilities include:

- Assisting the Manager Port Operations with pilotage exemptions, project work or other administrative functions as directed.
- Assisting in the management of ship related matters.
- Undertaking duties relating to port operations.
- Licencing requirements, working arrangements including rostering, salary and allowances are all in accordance with the Flinders Ports Marine Pilots Enterprise Agreement.
- After-hours work is a requirement of the role and as such flexibility to work with ever-changing shipping demands is required.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

- Master Class 1 Certificate of competency.
- Communicate effectively with other team members, authorities and organisations.
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation; and
- Ability to undertake training to obtain Pilot's licence for a number of Flinders Ports' and South Australian ports.

An AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) medical assessment (including drug and alcohol screening) is a requirement of the company, along with ability to hold a MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card).
