Job Title: Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator
This role involves developing and implementing programs that address priority issues and achieve sustainable agriculture outcomes in the Southern Gulf region. The facilitator will be the central contact point for landholders, industry groups, and community organizations and aim to support climate-smart sustainable agriculture practices in the region.
* Engage and inform farmers, landholders, community groups, and agriculture industries within their NRM region about climate-smart, sustainable agriculture practices – including best practice natural resource management, biodiversity and carbon markets, and practices that support emission reductions and build climate resilience on-farm.
* Facilitate partnerships and connections that will assist farmers, landholders, community groups, and agriculture industries to work together.
* Support the delivery of sustainable agriculture projects in their region.

Key Responsibilities:
The facilitator will be responsible for:
1. Facilitating Partnerships: Facilitate partnerships and connections with organisations and landholders, Indigenous groups, Federal and State government, conservation and agricultural sector, community groups, and other groups as required to promote and implement best practice agricultural practices to achieve sustainable outcomes.
2. Project Coordination: Coordinate project activities, timelines, and resources effectively and ensure required planning and reporting is undertaken as per Government requirements in conjunction with the support of the team and supervisor.
3. Reporting: Provide regular reporting to the management team on work completed and key activities underway.
4. Funding Identification: Identify potential funding for community-based sustainable agriculture groups and assist in the development of applications for funding from government, philanthropic, and corporate funding sources.
5. Sustainable Agriculture Outcomes: Encourage and support sustainable agriculture outcomes by providing property management planning, capacity-building activities, and adoption of sustainable farm practices.
6. Community Engagement: Participating as required in work groups to promote the region as you raise awareness of the community opportunities for engagement in NRM initiatives.

Selection Criteria:
Appointment to the position will be based on the following selection criteria:
1. Sound Knowledge: Sound knowledge of land management concepts, principles, and procedures related to sustainable land management and natural resource management.
2. Demonstrated Experience: Demonstrated experience and success in working with landholders and community-based committees and organisations, including with Indigenous communities and organisations.
3. Organisational Skills: High level of organisational skills to facilitate workshops and field days and time management to meet conflicting deadlines.
4. Communication Skills: Proven high level of written and oral communication skills incorporating consultation and negotiation skills and the abilities of integrity, tact, and maintenance of ethical conduct with community groups and landholders.
5. Financial Management: Demonstrated experience and understanding of project financial management, reporting, and monitoring, including reporting to Government standards.
6. Initiative and Autonomy: Proven initiative and demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member, meet deadlines, and establish work priorities and achieve quality outcomes.
7. Funding and Stakeholders: Demonstrated ability and/or understanding to seek funding that delivers program objectives and ability to identify key agencies and stakeholders in the region.
8. Workplace Health and Safety: Knowledge of workplace health and safety principles and practice.
9. Natural Resource Management: Knowledge of natural resource management principles and practice.

Additional Factors:
Initiative, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities, and a personal commitment to attaining high work standards are important attributes for success in this role. A drivers' licence and the ability to work flexible hours will be required for this role has frequent remote area travel.

General Conditions of Employment:
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) but alternative arrangements could be negotiated.
The position is employed under standard terms and conditions of employment.
Rent assistance of up to $5,200 per annum (pro-rata) may be available to employees under the relevant policy.
Full or partial reimbursement of reasonable relocation expenses is available by agreement.
Five weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading is available pro-rata. Up to 10 days study leave and negotiated financial assistance for approved relevant study pro-rata.
Payment of an amount equivalent to 12% of the employee's salary to an eligible fund of the employee's choice.
A vehicle will be available for work use when required.
The position is located in the Southern Gulf NRM office at Mount Isa. We would consider anywhere in the Southern Gulf NRM region, Queensland.
