About the role
You'll be a Senior Backend Engineer pairing deep backend expertise with pragmatic ownership. You'll collaborate across product, frontend, mobile, and platform teams to ship reliable, scalable services, raise performance baselines, strengthen CI/CD, and simplify architecture with a strong security mindset.

What you'll do
* Design, develop, and operate reliable, scalable APIs and services in Python with Django and Django REST Framework.
* Lead architectural changes that simplify the system: data modeling improvements, service boundaries, messaging patterns, and zero-downtime migrations.
* Collaborate with DevOps on pipelines and infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform, and promote trunk-based development and deployment safety.
* Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure high code quality and system reliability.
* Cross-functionally collaborate with Frontend, Mobile, UX, and Product to shape solutions and negotiate APIs that improve developer experience and user outcomes.
* Mentor engineers through structured feedback, pairing, and design reviews. Contribute to knowledge sharing through talks and documentation.
Your skills and qualifications
* Expert-level Python with Django and Django REST Framework. Strong understanding of RESTful API design and versioning.
* Strong SQL and PostgreSQL expertise, including performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and schema evolution.
* Experience building resilient asynchronous systems using Celery and message brokers such as RabbitMQ.
* Practical caching strategies with Redis, including eviction policies and cache-aside patterns.
* Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions for safe, fast delivery with canaries and feature flags.
* Product-focused observability with SLIs/SLOs, actionable alerts, and trace-to-log correlation.
* Ability to diagnose and prevent issues, instrument, document, and test to avoid regressions.
* Data-driven mindset with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making.
* Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges, suggest improvements, and take initiative in problem-solving.
* Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work seamlessly across design, product, and engineering teams.
