Corporate Accountant

Location – Canberra city
Remuneration – From $87,991 plus 15% superannuation
About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Corporate Accountant to join our Finance Division.
Reporting to the Financial Controller – Corporate Services, you will be responsible for delivering financial and management accounting services for the Corporate Services Division in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and ActewAGL policies.
The role offers autonomy and the opportunity to lead process improvements as the business evolves.
You will play a key part in ensuring compliance, supporting audits, and partnering with stakeholders to drive financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Provide financial and management accounting services to Corporate Services and stakeholders.
Complete month-end closing procedures and balance sheet reconciliations.
Analyse month-end results against budgets and forecasts, identifying anomalies.
Assist in preparing financial reports and developing budgets and forecasts.
Support external audits with documentation and variance analysis.
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes.
Provide business partnering services and financial support to the broader team.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
Tertiary qualifications in accounting or related discipline.
CA/CPA membership (or working towards).
Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, preferably in utilities or large infrastructure businesses.
Strong technical accounting skills and understanding of AAS.
Ability to streamline processes while maintaining financial control.
Desirable
Advanced Excel skills and experience with Oracle Fusion.
