The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre.

The Emergency Department (ED) provides a tertiary level service for people with illness or injury 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Our busy ED provides care for >75,000 patients annually with an admission rate of more than 35% and a paediatric case load of 20%.
The RHH Emergency Department has a co-located Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) which is a short stay ward for patients requiring a brief hospital stay (generally less than 24 hours). The EMU has 24 short-stay beds operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a high turnover ward environment and a variety of clinical presentations.
The Role:
The Emergency Department Nurse Unit Manager is closely supported by a leadership team to lead and manage the coordination of overall patient care and is responsible for managing the allocated human, material and financial resources for service delivery within the ED.
You will need:
* Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in contemporary nursing management practice, including clinical governance; clinical risk management; evidenced based practice; research; clinical standards; ethics; and legislation.
* Capability to promote a shared vision and purpose, positively influence others (internally and externally), and ensure optimal client outcomes while building a culture of success, commitment, and active contribution by all staff.
* Ability to establish and maintain relationships and useful partnerships with people at all levels and disciplines across the business unit and group.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full-time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing in August 2025 for approximately twelve (12) months.
Note: Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. This selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies for up to twelve months from the date of publication.
Salary:
$130,203 to $136,295 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Additional allowances such as Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type may be available.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants must meet the essential criteria:
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
Desirable criteria include relevant postgraduate qualifications.
