Finishing Section Team Leader

Castings Tasmania, a proudly Australian-owned foundry with a legacy dating back to 1964, is a national supplier of high-quality castings to regulated and high-demand sectors including rail, defence, mining and heavy transport. Location: Launceston.
As part of a strategic investment in people and process improvement, we are seeking an experienced Finishing Team Leader to oversee our surface finishing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role, reporting directly to the General Manager and responsible for a team of up to 30 staff across shot blasting, grinding, welding and NDT.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate shift operations in the Finishing Section.
* Drive a strong safety culture and ensure WHS compliance.
* Plan and schedule production to meet quality and delivery targets.
* Train, mentor and develop team members to build a high-performance culture.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/CI tools.
* Utilise Synchro ERP and reporting systems to optimise workflow and productivity.
About You
* Proven leadership experience in a foundry, fabrication or heavy engineering environment.
* Strong technical knowledge of finishing processes, including welding, NDT and machining.
* Skilled in employee development, performance management and team engagement.
* Tertiary qualifications in engineering, metallurgy or a mechanical trade, with additional training in WHS, Lean or frontline management.
* Practical, hands-on approach with a commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
