Where You'll Be Working

The Senior Clinical Psychologist will join the Hunter Integrated Pain Service, based at John Hunter Hospital and delivering care across the Hunter New England region. You'll be part of a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team that includes pain specialists, physiotherapists, clinical nurse specialists and consultants, dietitians, psychologists, a psychiatrist and dedicated administrative staff.

This is a close-knit team with a strong culture of shared learning and mutual support, guided by the ethos of "all learn, all grow." Collaboration, respect and curiosity are central to how the team works together and supports patients.

About The Role

You'll be supported to deliver evidence-based psychological care that prioritises patient dignity, engagement and quality of life, even in the context of finite resources and high clinical demand.

About You

You are an experienced clinician who is comfortable working with highly complex presentations, including people who may be disadvantaged, vulnerable or experiencing significant distress. Group work is a core component of this role, and you bring confidence and skill in facilitating therapeutic groups with patients and families.

You are organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining high clinical standards. Experience in psychotherapy within pain management is highly regarded, along with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and multidisciplinary care.

Support and Development

You'll be well supported from day one. The service includes a Senior Clinical Psychologist with long-standing experience in the team, alongside another Clinical Psychologist and a Psychiatrist who is closely involved in psychological care. A structured orientation with protected time will be provided on commencement, followed by regular supervision and mentoring.

Professional development and growth opportunities are actively encouraged and offered equitably, in line with team practices, supporting both clinical excellence and career progression.
