Fire Assay Technician – Metallurgical Services – Perth WA

The role is for a Fire Assay Technician in our metallurgical services business in Perth WA. Successful applicants will become part of our busy mineral testing laboratories that strive to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time, and by maintaining strong relationships with clients.

You will be a casual employee working up to 75 hours a fortnight (shift work is required for this role – day / afternoon / occasional night shifts), with a view to permanent employment after a period of service.

Responsibilities

* Perform all aspects of the fire assay process including weighing, fluxing, pouring, de‐slagging, cupellation and prilling.
* Carry out wet chemistry (aqua regia and amalgam) digestions of prills.
* Scorify samples.
* Support the Area Supervisor and Team Leaders – involved in sample preparation procedures.
* Follow procedures to complete test work to a high safety standard.
* Maintain accurate record keeping, capturing, and processing control samples.

Essential qualifications and skills

* Previous experience in similar laboratory or mine site roles is highly regarded; training will be provided for successful applicants with no experience.
* Good communication, organisational and time‐management skills.
* Great attention to detail and high motivation.
* Capacity to undertake shift work as required.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good physical fitness with the ability to perform manual handling tasks.
* Good literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.
* Alignment to ALS core values and culture.
