Job Description
BWA Black Wattle Archaeology provides expert archaeological, anthropological and cultural heritage management services throughout Australia. We are currently seeking a full-time Archaeologist for our business located in Long Jetty.
Your duties will include: Conducting archaeological investigations including Aboriginal and historical heritage assessments for development and infrastructure projects. Assembling, reviewing and analysing archaeological, historical and environmental data through consultation of archival sources, heritage registers, maps, site records and previous reports. Planning and undertaking archaeological fieldwork, including surveys, excavations, monitoring programs and site recording, to identify, assess and document cultural heritage places and objects.
Organising, authenticating, evaluating and interpreting archaeological, historical, anthropological and environmental data to assess cultural significance Preparing technical reports, impact assessments and management plans that meet regulatory, client and statutory authority requirements. Providing specialist advice to clients, government agencies and stakeholders on cultural heritage risk management, statutory compliance and best-practice heritage conservation outcomes. Managing archaeological collections and records, including artefact analysis, cataloguing and curation in accordance with professional and legislative standards.
Presenting research findings and project outcomes through written reports, briefings and presentations to clients and community stakeholders. Applying professional archaeological methods, ethical standards and workplace health and safety practices across office-based and field-based consultancy activities.
