This role provides leadership, direction, and support to other nursing staff, students and the interdisciplinary team.
The Role
An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurses (Mental Health - Melaleuca Inpatient Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
* Utilise advanced level mental health nursing capability to coordinate and manage complex cases
* Lead and coordinate clinical care in the work unit, performing the role of shift coordinator as required
* Provide, maintain and role model advanced person-focused and evidence-based care
* Foster effective relationships with consumers, families and carers
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
* A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
* Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
* Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
* A graduate certificate or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
* Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
* Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
* Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
* Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

* Permanent part time (several positions)
* Base salary ranging from $56.08 - $60.05 per hour

Inpatient Mental Health provide a safe and supportive environment for consumers with mental illness that is not manageable through community services. The purpose of admission to Inpatient Unit is for the treatment of acute mental illnesses, comprehensive assessments or for specific planned therapeutic intervention and offering support, education and reintegration back into the community.
