Job Title: Laboratory Manager
The ideal candidate for this role will possess excellent leadership and operational management skills, with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. They will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing large teams, with a focus on collaboration and open communication. They will also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
The role involves managing a 24-hour roster, seven days a week, including public holidays. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the laboratory to provide an efficient and effective service
* Oversee operational management, compliance management, financial planning and reporting
* Monitor department performance and report results
* Manage human resources and strategic planning
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Tertiary qualifications in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
* Proven leadership and operational management skills
* Extensive experience in immunohaematology, pre-transfusion testing and blood product selection
* Demonstrated experience with quality improvement and risk management
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
