Job Opportunity:
Bechtel is seeking a talented Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for civil/structural aspects of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct detailed phases of civil/structural engineering work, including preparation of original designs, layouts, details, drawings, and specifications for structures, building, roadways, railroads, etc.
2. Participate in the design, development, and modification of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides.
3. Design structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
4. Determine the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure proper material selection based on load or stress requirements.
5. Originate and check structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
6. Analyze problems with conflicting design requirements, sketch ideas, and possible solutions.
7. Analyze and report on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/or difficult coordination requirements.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
* Experience in the mining and metals industry, including design of materials handling systems, process plants, and/or non-process infrastructure.
* In-depth knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures, and codes relevant to civil discipline.
