What you’ll do (with training)
- Work across three settings:
- Workshop/shop front cutting keys, assembling locks, and serving walk in customers.
- On the road assisting with installs, servicing locks, and attending call outs with qualified techs.
- Customer service & sales problem solving customer issues on site and in store, providing solutions, and recommending products.
- Service and install locks, door hardware and door closers.
- Assist with master key systems and restricted keys.
- Help with electronic/smart locks and basic access control as you progress.
- Keep tidy job notes and deliver friendly, professional service every time.
What you’ll bring
- Finished Year 10 (or higher).
- Australian driver’s licence (or working towards).
- National Police Clearance (or able to obtain).
- Good attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong customer service skills, you enjoy helping people.
- Enjoys problem solving and finding practical solutions.
- Team player who can also work independently when needed.
- Bonus: basic hand/power-tool skills, carpentry/metalwork, or customer facing experience.
Training & support (how we invest in you)
- Formal TAFE delivery for MEM30819 + on-the-job training plan.
- Paid study days/assessments, mentoring, and structured year-by-year milestones
- Safety tickets and clear pathways to WA Security Installer (Locks – Class 4) licensing after you qualify.
- Opportunities to enter MLAA Apprentice of the Year competitions once you’re finishing up.
Pay & hours
- Full-time apprenticeship with award base + overtime/penalties.
- RDOs available; rotating on-call only once you’re ready (with allowance).
