About the Ngaanyatjarra Council
The Ngaanyatjarra Lands are managed by the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG), a wholly community‐led organisation representing the interests of Traditional Owners (Yarnangu) across 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia.
Established in 1981, NCG employs over 450 people and delivers essential services including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres, and land services. We are one of Australia's largest and most successful Indigenous organisations.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role plays a critical part in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and strong governance across the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group.
You will support group financial reporting, statutory compliance and audits, and provide technical accounting expertise across the organisation. This role also oversees Corporate Services financial management and coordinates the Group's insurance programme, making it a key position within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
* Support monthly group financial reporting, including analysis and variance commentary.
* Maintain balance sheet integrity through reconciliations, accruals, and financial controls.
* Support statutory reporting requirements and coordinate external audits.
* Provide technical accounting advice and ensure compliance with relevant standards (AASB/IFRS).
* Assist with treasury activities, including cash flow monitoring and governance processes.
* Oversee financial management of Corporate Services cost centres and reporting.
* Coordinate the organisation's insurance programme, including renewals, claims, and asset schedules.
* Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
* Partner with stakeholders across the organisation to support informed decision‐making.

* Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data for non‐finance stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
* CA or CPA qualification.
* Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, or audit.
* Experience working across multiple entities or complex organisational structures desirable.
* Experience in not‐for‐profit, Aboriginal Corporations, or similar sectors advantageous.
* Experience with ERP systems (e.g. MYOB Acumatica) desirable.
