Overview
City of Kwinana is establishing a pool of suitable applicants for casual Youth Officers at the Zone Youth Space. Applicants assessed as suitable but not offered immediate work will be placed in an appointment pool, which will operate for 3 months from the date of the initial placement in the pool, from which further employment opportunities may be offered.
Being part of the Youth team you will support the development, delivery and evaluation of programs aimed at young people aged 10 to 18 years that increase their socialisation/connection, knowledge, skills, resilience, well-being and participation in the local community. This will include engaging with, motivating and supervising young people in both the daily drop-in times and other programs at Zone Youth Space, as well as community based activities and outings. This position works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to build positive relationships in order to advantage outcomes for young people.
Pleasenote: The ordinary hours of work for this position shall be worked up to within a ten (10) hour spread between commencement and completion on any shift Monday to Sunday. Days of work may be subject to change due to operational requirements.
Responsibilities
* Engage with, motivate and supervise young people in daily drop-in times and other Zone Youth Space programs, as well as community-based activities and outings.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build positive relationships that support outcomes for young people.
* Support development, delivery and evaluation of youth programs and activities.
About You / Qualifications
* Previous experience in youth program planning, development and delivery, youth centre drop-in supervision, or a similar role.
* Well-developed working knowledge of social issues that impact young people, including Indigenous and CaLD culture and related impacts for young people in urban settings.
* Sound analytical, report writing, data collection and computer literacy skills.
* Well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
* Tertiary qualification in youth work or similar, or significant experience in a related field.
* Driver's Licence and willingness to obtain Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, Provide First Aid Certificate and work after hours and weekends.
Compensation
$45.33 per hour (inclusive of casual loading)
This position is classified as a Band 5 under the City of Kwinana's structured remuneration system.
