Full-Time Cook

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team.
The cook at La Casa Pasta Bar & Grill is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes according to our menu and presentation standards. This includes operating and maintaining kitchen equipment—especially our wood-fired oven—prepping ingredients, and ensuring every plate meets both taste and visual expectations. The cook must follow all food safety and hygiene protocols, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service. A passion for food, attention to detail, and consistency are key to delivering the exceptional dining experience our guests have come to expect.
Main duties
•Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and standards
•Operate kitchen equipment, including wood-fired oven, grill, and fryers
•Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of workstations
•Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
•Prep ingredients and ensure proper food storage and labelling
•Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation
•Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
•Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff for smooth service
•Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards
•Assist with stock rotation and inventory control
•Contribute ideas for menu specials or improvements
Required qualifications, experience and skills
•A minimum qualification of Certificate 4 in the relevant area or at least 3 years of cook experience in place of the formal qualification
•Relevant full-time work experience in a similar environment for at least 1 year
•Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, including grilling, sautéing, and baking
•Experience with wood-fired ovens and traditional Italian cuisine (preferred)
•Ability to follow recipes and plating standards consistently
•Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
•Time management and the ability to work under pressure during busy service
•Attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
•Strong communication and teamwork skills
•Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays
•Basic knife skills and ingredient preparation techniques
•Ability to multitask and prioritise duties in a fast-paced kitchen
•Willingness to learn and adapt to new methods or menu changes
Salary $73,000 – 78,000 per annum plus superannuation
