Join Empirical Solutions – Lead Integrated Logistics Support for Maritime Capability Delivery
Empirical Solutions is seeking an experienced Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Manager (Level 3 – Advanced Practitioner) to support the delivery of new maritime platforms for Defence's littoral and amphibious capability.
This role provides senior ILS leadership across acquisition and transition-to-sustainment phases, ensuring support systems are fully integrated, fit for purpose, and aligned with Defence logistics frameworks. The position is Canberra-based and requires on-site engagement.
About the Role
As an ILS Manager, you will lead all aspects of Integrated Logistics Support from early support system design through to delivery and introduction into service. You will work closely with engineering, configuration, project management, and sustainment teams to ensure logistics products, processes, and plans are coherent, compliant, and operationally effective.
This role is expected to continue beyond the initial engagement period, subject to approval.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of materiel logistics strategies, concepts, and plans supporting acquisition and delivery activities
* Coordinate and manage ILS teams, ensuring tight integration across Support System Constituent Capabilities (SSCCs)
* Develop and gain approval for Integrated Logistics Concepts and Plans with key stakeholders
* Define and manage Support System requirements in partnership with capability sponsors and other Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC) stakeholders
* Review contractor-developed support plans and processes to ensure alignment with Defence logistics frameworks
* Facilitate workshops with contractors to resolve issues identified during deliverable reviews
* Coordinate the review of contractor deliverables across multiple stakeholder organisations
* Provide assurance of Logistics Support Analysis (LSA), Maintenance Requirements Determination, Supply Support, and Training Support products
* Work closely with engineering teams to ensure support products align with approved configurations
* Collaborate with configuration management and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) teams to ensure logistics products are accurate and complete
* Support introduction into service and transition from acquisition to sustainment.
* Contribute to project governance forums, technical reviews, and integrated project team meetings
* Provide authoritative advice to project leadership on ILS risks, issues, and mitigation strategies
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* NV1 security clearance (mandatory)
* Demonstrated experience in Integrated Logistics Support within Defence acquisition, sustainment, or asset management environments
* Proven experience managing or contributing to Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) activities
* Strong understanding of the relationship between ILS, LSA, and Test & Evaluation / Verification & Validation (T&E / V&V)
* Ability to operate effectively at a senior practitioner level in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear, authoritative advice
Desirable Experience
* Engineering degree (or equivalent professional experience supported by relevant training)
* Experience supporting maritime or shipbuilding programs
* Familiarity with Defence acquisition and sustainment governance frameworks
* Experience leading ILS activities across early design, build, and transition phases
