Overview

Position Preschool Director/Nominated Supervisor

Location Grafton

Gummyaney Aboriginal Preschool is a 38-place well-established cultural preschool in the Grafton region, renowned for its strong community reputation in quality early childhood education. We operate in NSW school terms 40 weeks per year from 8am to 4.00pm serving children aged 3-5 years.

We are seeking a culturally diverse compassionate individual with a strong sense of social justice for this managerial permanent full-time Preschool Director’s position to lead our vibrant and nurturing learning space for young children. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping a culturally responsive, educational program that supports the growth and development of children and their families.

Key responsibilities

- Responsible for managing all day-to-day aspects of the preschool operations and provide leadership ensuring high quality education and care provision.
- Recruiting and monitoring staff and managing the overall image of the preschool and developing relationships that support and partner with families.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and educational frameworks governing childcare and manage the financial affairs of the childcare facility alongside the Approved Provider.
- Access additional funding and subsidies and represent the organisation in grant applications and funding documents.
- Manage events and experiences with children which promote awareness of our community and reflect child-centred learning.
- Working with Aboriginal communities and the wider community and participating and keeping up to date of significant calendar events.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that respects the diversity and values of the local Aboriginal community.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills ensuring a smooth operation of the preschool.
- Upholding and implementing the preschool philosophy, policies and procedures.

Qualifications and requirements

- An ACECQA recognised qualification in Early Childhood Education (minimum Diploma)
- Thorough and in-depth knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and Education and Care National Law and understanding of the NSW Child Safe Standards
- Current and sound knowledge of Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and Accreditation Process
- Current First Aid, CPR, and Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications.
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Child Protection Certificate.
- Driver9s Licence and good driving record
- National Police Check.

Remuneration

We offer NFP salary packaging and above-award wages based on your qualifications, skills, and experience up to $100,000 per annum in line with the current Children’s Services Award and/or Educational Services (Teachers) Award.
