What You'll Be Doing
As the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will provide clinical leadership in the provision of child and family health nursing services for children 0 – 5 years and their families. The role provides expert consultation, including supporting case management of clients with identified psychosocial and/or emotional difficulties which includes the period from conception to an infant up to five years of age.
Responsibilities
- Providing clinical leadership in child and family health nursing services.
- Delivering care to families with children aged 0 to 5 years using advanced clinical skills.
- Offering expert consultation and liaison services for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health consumers.
- Managing cases involving families from conception to children aged five years.
- Supporting the mental health and wellbeing of infants and their families through specialised care.
Essential Criteria
- Qualifications: postgraduate qualifications in child and family health nursing and Adult or Perinatal mental health or working towards, and at least 3 years full-time equivalent clinical experience working with families in the Perinatal period.
- Registration: Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
Selection Criteria
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) plus postgraduate qualifications in child and family health nursing with at least 3 years full time equivalent clinical experience working with families in the Perinatal period. Experience working within Adult or Perinatal mental health with a postgraduate certificate in Adult or Perinatal mental health, working towards or willingness to complete within 12 months of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with the Registered Nurse Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia).
- Demonstrated ability to provide complex care and advanced clinical skills in care planning and service provision for families with children aged 0 to 5 years with identified psychosocial and/or emotional difficulties.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively both independently and as part of the multidisciplinary health care team.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise, and the ability to lead and foster innovation to enhance care provision within child and family health.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership including education and quality improvement within the specialty of child and family health during the Perinatal period.
- Demonstrated effective communication including verbal, written and interpersonal skills and information technology skills to provide a high level of care for complex and vulnerable families.
- NSW Driver’s license and willingness to use for work purposes.
