In this role

Work within the Road Maintenance & Resilience Central West Construction team across the Central West ensuring project specifications and work process requirements for civil works are followed and implemented in accordance with quality and safety standards. The role involves supporting the delivery of a component of the $181 million Towards Zero Safer Roads Program to reduce road trauma on regional roads.

The position will be based out of Orange with occasional work away from home based on project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Guiding, supporting, and influencing field-based teams to perform roles and works to WHS, traffic, environmental and quality standards, including accurate documentation of works checks and records.
• Verifying that work activities are completed to quality specifications by following established procedures, performing measurements to confirm quality both during and on completion of work, comparing results to engineering plans and contract requirements, and completing required records.
• Performing safety, environmental, and quality checks, audits, asset inspections, competency assessments and staff/contractor inductions.
• Guiding team members, leading work output of a small unit, and developing capability, compliance, and process improvement.
• Maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, policies, and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, records management, and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.

Qualifications and experience

• Proven experience operating within a civil construction environment or equivalent.
• NSW Industry White Card.
• Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills in MS Office Suite.
• Traffic Control (Implement Traffic Control / Prepare Work Zone) tickets preferred.
• Experience in the operation of general construction plant preferred.
• Sound understanding of road maintenance and construction and associated infrastructure.
• Experience completing Inspection Test Plans and other quality assurance conformance processes.
• Experience in WHS and/or Quality Systems highly regarded.

Location requirements

Candidate must reside within 100km of the Bowenfels Works Depot or the Orange Works Depot.
